L’Oréal MYSG, in collaboration with Monash University Malaysia, invites you to an exciting data-driven competition. Step up to solve real-world challenges using Big Data, Machine Learning, and AI. Work in teams, upskill with expert training, and battle it out for amazing prizes and recognition amongst industry leaders.
The L’Oréal MYSG x Monash Datathon is the first-ever student-exclusive innovation challenge where you’ll apply your analytical, coding, and problem-solving skills to create impactful business solutions for L’Oréal based on real-world problem statements.
Over the course of four weeks, you’ll receive expert training, collaborate virtually and/or physically, and eventually pitch live at our office based in Kuala Lumpur.

Q: Is it free to join?
A: Yes! There are no fees to join.
Q: I’m not a tech person—can I still join?
A: Yes, as long as your team members include students from fields such as data science,
computer science, business analytics, or software engineering. Teams benefit from a mix of
roles like business, design, or marketing.
Q: Do I need to be in KL for the finals?
A: Only if your team is selected as one of the Top 10 teams to present during the Grand
Finals.
Q: Can non-Malaysians studying in Malaysia join?
A: Yes, as long as you are aged 18 years and above and currently a registered student in a
Malaysian Higher Education institution.
Q: What tools or programming languages can we use?
A: You can use any tools, frameworks, or programming languages you are comfortable with.
Python is generally preferred. We encourage you to register and check our handbook for more
details.
Q: Will we get mentorship?
A: Yes, you’ll have access to expert mentors during the training week and Datathon weekend.
